There were plenty of echoes of Bix and Fats at the 40th anniversary celebration for Will and Pam Wilson on July 27th, 2013, at Niagara-on-the-lake. That's because Will Wilson spent years playing music from the 20s and 30s with the Rainbow Gardens Jazz Orchestra (he was the original leader) and he was leading a quartet that included Jack Hutton, the longtime RGJO pianist. Brian Bauer from Buffalo was present with his Jimmy Dorsey style clarinet and his assortment of saxophones. Ed Woods on string bass completed the quartet for the anniversary celebration.
Unfortunately, Will Wilson is hidden from the view of the video camera, but his great playing stands out, and he does stand up to sing "Miss Clementine". This footage will be treasured by many despite the background conversations.
