What a great way to celebrate a 40th wedding anniversary! Will and Pam Wilson invited a select group friends and family to listen to a quartet (led by WIll on guitar) playing gems from the Golden Age of early jazz. Brian Bauer came from Buffalo with his clarinet and a car load of saxophones. Ed Brown brought his string bass and impressive bowing skills from Buffalo. Jack Hutton came from Bala, Muskoka, with his Kurzweil digital piano and 40 years of stride piano.
It was Jack who asked near the evening's end that they play Django's best-known masterpiece, "Nuages" Jack and Ed concentrated on providing the familiar pulsating Django rhythm, leaning on those wonderful chords, while Brian and Will soloed.
This all happened Saturday evening, July 27th, in the passenger lounge of the Muskoka District Airport which the Wilson's had rented for the occasion.
