In this overnight bike packing adventure I cycle just 6 miles into local woodland with a lightweight, minimal camping setup for a night at a secret bushcraft shelter.
It’s a hot summer’s day so I keep things super simple — mesh tent, bare essentials, and a cold dinner because of the wildfire risk.
The woodland is home to loose Highland cows, so I reinforce the open sides of the shelter with extra wood to make it cattle-proof before settling in for the night.
I film a Highland cow during the trip, get a few restless hours of sleep in an unfamiliar environment, then pack up at first light and ride home through a golf course in the beautiful sunrise.
This is a follow-up to my previous video Bike Packing Wild Camp – Perfect Cheap Hobby for Retired Men (16k views). I’m still proving that bike packing and simple wild camping remain an excellent low-cost hobby.
