The former video had a freeze frame glitch during the Naydra segment and I have no idea how to fix it, so I reuploaded the video. Sorry for the inconvenience, but thanks to all who pointed out the error ;) I appreciate this kind of feedback.
A different kind of challenge run: Minimalist 100%
Part 14 - Courage, Power and Wisdom
Disclaimer: This part is twice as long as normally, because I couldn't decide what to cut out ...and frankly, I didn't *want* to cut content here, as the constant fails are just as much part of the challenge as the parts that went smoothly.
The next part(s) will have the regular length again tho.
As for the actual challenge:
I originally planned to obtain the dragon scales from Hyrule Castle - there are chests which contain various dragon parts. However, this would have permanently removed chests from the game and unlocked the item descriptions of the scales as I "had to" actually obtain them, so it wasn't exactly the most elegant solution.
Moving a scale halfway across the map wasn't easy, but that in turn neither permanently removes anything from the game (the dragons spawn every single day) and neither does it unlock any item descriptions because I technically never "obtained" any scales. It also worked completely without using up arrows (tho I feel a little bit guilty about having forced Link through this ordeal).
The Korok Pits were annoying, but it is possible to get the scale out with enough force and/or bombs ... the mud however proved to be more difficult. I tried stasis & bombs, tried to scoop the scale out with magnesis and the trident, but neither one worked. It might have worked with a metal chest or some other heavy metal object, but I didn't have one.
Trying to use Farosh's own updraft to "launch" a bomb upwards (like I did for Naydra) always resulted in an immediate, painful death because Link always got hit by multiple thunder orbs at once. i gave up on that method after a couple of tries.
Why it surprised me that Farosh dropped a claw: You are normally supposed to get a guaranteed scale "the first time" you shoot one of the dragons, no matter where you hit it. I was originally under the impression that you NEED to pick up the scale in order to be able to recieve other parts, but since Farosh was able to drop a claw without me ever picking up a scale, this means that the "first item" can probably be ignored as long as you shot off at least one part. Either that, or my game glitched.
If you're wondering why I didn't wear armor while dealing with Farosh: regular armor is pretty useless against shock damage. In order to shield Link from electricity, I would have needed the Rubber Armor, Thunder Helm or triple shock res from food/elixirs, and all of these things are off limits.
Additional information:
- Officially, the dragons are genderless. Even the Creating a Champion Artbook uses the pronoun "it" instead of "he/she" when talking about them. Personally tho, I feel like Naydra is female, Dinraal is male, and Farosh is a prick. That sparkling pool noodle will forever be an "it" for me.
- Since the question of how much time I spend trying (and failing) stuff pops up periodically: I had 219 clips between 20 and 30 seconds each saved for this part of the series, so a completely uncut video compilation would have been between 73 and 109 minutes long. (But keep in mind that this was NOT all done in a single day, but in short sessions over the course of multiple weeks. I do have some IRL obligations that prevent me from playing for 12 hours straight, you know?)
- Urbosa's Fury deals 150 damage points, so all 3 charges are worth only 450 damage. Silver Bokoblins however have 720 HP. Urbosa's Fury does NOT hurt regular animals like horses.
