Experiment #449: Ostrich Egg
(Rated G) After last year's semi-failed attempt at microwaving an emu egg, this year I'm microwaving an ostrich egg, the biggest egg on the planet. Don't worry, it's an unfertilized egg meaning NO baby ostrich was harmed in the making of this video. Only a microwave that bore the brunt of the explosion. On that note, I have NO idea how the force of that explosion didn't blow the door open. It shook the microwave and even the camera a tiny bit, despite it sitting a good 10 feet back (to give you an idea how loud it was) and it had force equal to that of the bottle of beer. Of course I was hoping for even more, like it would be a champagne bottle type of explosion. This is what happened when they did this experiment on Brainiac.

Despite the video description, it's obvious they cut out most of the microwave time like I did. My egg was in for about 10 minuets, so you get the edited version. The noise you hear in the background of my video isn't the microwave being defective, it's the sound of an air compressor run by the neighbor. Sorry, there was nothing that I could do about it. Sometimes you have to deal with annoying crap in the background, but I tried to minimize the background noise as much as possible. I didn't wait until night to do it because I thought this had the potential to be much worse than it actually was. And even what I got was pretty loud. From standing outside the garage it sounded like a gunshot going off. I wonder if the Jameson Irish whiskey caused the door to get sticky? Either way, hope you have a great Easter and enjoy seeing me blow up the biggest egg that I could find FOR SCIENCE!!!
