Microsoft has spent literally more than a billion dollars developing Word, and this is what we get. It put in the wrong closing quote mark, but it’s telling us that what’s wrong is the space after it. To write dialogue that ends with a dash because the character is interrupted, type the dash and right after it, any random letter. Then the closing quote mark will be correct and you can delete that random letter. A billion dollars.
