I swear, we’re like a couple bad years away from going full blown 1984
Police used those creepy Flock cameras to track a man’s car across state lines for the sake of MAYBE pulling him over and catching him with a possession charge
Wisconsin cops noticed a man driving relatively frequently between their state and Michigan after his plate was seen on multiple Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras - and after connecting the dots, they decided to pinpoint his location the next time he drove through, track him to the border, and pull him over on the way back
The guy’s name is Edward Abrams-Phillips, and since Michigan’s a known source state for legal marijuana, police figured they’d take a chance and bust him for it by making up alternative reasoning for the traffic stop
This wound up being a coordinated effort acted out by multiple deputies - and once they stopped Edward, they hit him with the classic “smells like dank in here” line - and he DID wind up getting arrested for the ordeal
Since then, though, the JARS Cannabis dispensary Edward was going to’s also caught wind about the situation, and apparently blocked their local Flock cam with a sign that says “No Flock Zone” in their parking lot
