here's a remnant of an older frigate escape route. there's a trigger under the unusable elevator in emergency evac, if you stand in it this explosion happens, and prevents you going back into the frigate. this hints at that elevator having once been the intended escape, and based on the prerelease demo, the connection point of the elevator where samus loses her items.
