What a long year this had been! And here we have a new MEP part collection to start the new one off with c:
A ton happened this past year that i wish had gone better than it did, but at the very least I'm glad to have been able to participate in some bigger projects, have some new experiences in editing and in my personal life/uni, and make some new friends!
You know what i have been VERY hyped about this past year? YEAR OF SHADOW BABEYYY! ;D Sonic x Shadow Generations had me on a SUPER hype train and was nice to finish that game in uuh a few days? Then Sonic 3!! I've already watched that movie twice and it still hypes me up just as much c:
Got to watch the movie Flow/Straume a couple times! Absolutely love it x3 My personal SOTC of movies right now :D
I got into digital drawing this year!!! And animating, a little uwu i got my very first drawing tablet and i've been having a blast using it - haven't been able to use it/draw for fun for quite some months now (sans the last MEP part you see here!), but when i'll have time, i want to re-learn what i wanted to learn, and continue learning c: Shoutout to my 2DS/3DS for igniting this interest in me with Flipnote Studio cx
While i did get really burnt out from editing this year, i hope to gradually reignite my passion for it. We'll see how that goes!

Woooooo! After about a year of editing this on and off, and 85 layers, this is finally finished :3
This is a remake of an edit i made near when i first started editing - an edit that i made in early December of 2011. With Windows Movie Maker sadkjhaskjsa owo
Finally doing my username justice XD Its been three years since my last R&C edit, i think- :o
So then!! A year ago or so i sent my girlfriend a bunch of my old edits that i had deleted previously but was able to recover - this being one of them, and then!! She said that she would love to see this particular one in my current style, and that immediately gave me the thought of remaking this - plus the idea itself made me really excited - so big shoutout to her for this suggestion! uwu Honestly i think this is one of my Better old edits for me to remake, as well XD
I finished the b&w intro with the hide your face forever and whatnot last year, and only had set some clips. I was feeling intimated by the amount of work i had to do, so i didnt really get beyond that much XD However, this year, during my second semester, i made it my goal to finish this edit over summer of this year, and look what ended up happening ^w^ Once school was basically over for me this year, i intently got to setting more clips, the coloring, and effects, slowly. My ideas were trial and error at points, as i dont edit with this kind of music too often now. But i knew that smth that i wanted to unite everything with would be the tv simulator effect to simulate the sound of the guitar :3 And i wanted everything to be purely what i would define as my style - arial, scratch overlays, bounciness/floatiness, and precision, being some to mention. I knew everything should come into place, once i finished setting the clips!
Every now and then i looked at the original to decide if i like something there and want to carry it over too. I also took a separate day to fiddle around with masks bc those take quite a bit of energy from me XD
And every now and then i checked and compared what im doing so the flow would be okay. On some days when i was away from home i would also loop this song, when able, and just envision as many ideas as i could, that i could later make when i get home. I really got into making this!
Oh, and i wanted to add a comparison at the end c: It was super exciting to watch the comparison when this was done, i think ive come quite a long way in editing in these nearly 10 years :o
This has got to be the most amount of masks ive done in a video in quite a long time, plus its the longest of my edits in quite a while, hands down owo I generally am not friends with masks, but i really tried to get myself together and do some for this video - some are a bit half-assed, but there are others like the one at 1:03 that i tried a little harder for ^^
I made some quality-of-life improvements to this edit while remaking it, such as improved timing and added masks ^^ Some effects i intentionally made similar to the old edit, some i did unintentionally :o And during the bridge, i didnt use that exact clip from the game that i used originally, because i remember my original idea being to play the video in reverse at that point, but since reversing videos isnt a thing (not conveniently anyways) in wmm, i went with the next best thing and used that clip - so i essentially completed my original idea there :3
I added the warning on top of the video at the start so my adjustment layer keyframes wouldnt get displaced ;w;
A fun fact about making the original video - though i dont remember much of my emotions while making this, i remember that i didnt know the lyrics, and i based my clip choices off my misheard lyrics- XD For instance, one of the lyrics is proud like a god, but i misheard it as bow like a dog or something- XD
However, at points i did wish that my past self would have chosen some better clips ;w; (like, what am i supposed to do with 1:01- XD) quite a few were also rather long in length, as you can see owo
I had to reinstall magic bullet looks while editing this bc i installed another plugin related to it, and it caused p much all of the video to get a black/blue screen as a watermark, but after reinstalling that fixed the issue. The editing process itself was rather alright, tho i feel like my pc was getting tired of my shenanigans with time, bc the ram previews got very, very slow XD i guess thats understandable given how much i shoved onto the clips tho XD
Speaking of getting slow - my gosh - the render time XD This took over an hour to render for the comparison, and over 2 hours to render the second time *with* the comparison included, and that is by far the longest render time ive had on this pc so far XD

Actually quite happy with this one! Not gonna lie tho,,, i literally speedran this part twice, once when the WIPs were due, and the second, when the deadline was the next day- kjsdahajkds I was extremely low on motivation, time and inspiration to make this part.
So what youre seeing here is basically the result of speedrunning and also getting into the zone while speedrunning??
I first started with the middle, and then worked towards the beginning and ending. I thought itd be really cool for the part to flow with parts before and after mine, so i tried to add scenes that could help with that~
I also wanted to add orange accents to bits and pieces of this part, i was kinda vibing with that here ^^
This coloring was quite fun to make. It actually mostly consists of sharpening, saturation, and light leaks. So its, imo, super easy and low-effort to make, but also looks nice~
The text was also fun to do despite some trial and error with the text at the beginning and end. At first i tried to move the scripted veins text horizontally, but i quickly decided that thats not it, because your eyes dont follow this area of the screen naturally, from where all of the other motion was happening. I then decided to move it upwards, to the center, and this ended up looking much nicer. Kinda reminiscent to how i like placing text in graphics, but, animated ^^
I had some struggles with the last couple clips tho. The clip at 0:07 was blank and the longer Super Sonic clip alongside the 06 flashing scenes werent there, and i was really trying to find something that makes sense in terms of context in the scenes or composition, until eventually everything broke and i had 4 scenes of Sonic just looking to the right, which was boring. I then finally went with a sure this works scene from Riders for the first, and it ended up looking okay, and i then remembered about this scene of Super Sonic, which i proceeded to have trouble finding and downloading in a good quality, but i managed to find it!
And yes, i am glad that i got this done on time ^^

Ah, speaking a little bit about how this past year has been for me, i believe i forgot to do so in the previous upload: Parts of this last year were very good, parts could have been better!
At the start of the year, i think i mightve gone into something akin to a nervous breakdown where i blanked out for months on end, due to high levels of anxiety. Plus it was the continuation of me getting sick every now and then. I wasnt really able to function well or get back to doing things well. I feel rather bad for not getting back to people quick enough in this time period, but i want to thank you all for being understanding, i appreciate it a lot!
The middle of the year was chaotic, fun, and tiring, up to a point. Graduated my art school, and in the last months, although i was slowly breaking apart from burnout and apathy about editing, i realized just how much i loved that school. After graduating art school, i wasnt able to get into any art related uni or academy that i wanted, and started studying something else instead, by pure... kinda unlucky coincidence of getting accepted into that course. Its a course closer to language and linguistics. I started to miss art and design a whole bunch. The last half of the year was spent with having an existential crisis, feeling exhausted, and trying to figure out where id want my future to take me. But im still trying my best to find the positives in this for now!
Through this big year, i want to give a massive shoutout to those who have been beside me during the year in some way or another, and whose presence has lit up my days endlessly. I love all of these people dearly, and i want to wish them all the best and of course all of yall the best too in this coming year, as well! đ

Aaaaahh I havent edited in a little while! Besides one other project this is the first thing Ive done in like a week ^^
I am aware that this is a little strange combination of characters here, but the main thing I wanted to do was test out this Squall model I found :3 (Also I recently started playing FFVIII so thats why ^^ And well to be fair Im not even past the part with my s e a t yet, and the tutorial, but oKAY aksdhjsajk XDD) I simply couldnt find any good motions that I like with a singular character that could maybe fit Squall, so I ended up going with one with two characters and threw Yuna in bc I felt like using her model again could be fun ^w^ There actually was one motion that I couldve used with just Squall, - which I wanted to, as well - but there were some problems with the lip movements at one point for that one, and Im not sure why ^^ The song I originally wanted to use was Masked bitcH if youre wondering ^^
I honestly really like how both of these models look together. Theyre very detailed and they compliment each other quite well, I feel x3
Im also really happy that I found this awesome camera for this song! Its so dynamic and active, and smooth, at that x3
I wanted to add overlays throughout most of the video this time around but I knew that I should keep them clean enough so its still clear as to whats going on in the video ^^ I stopped using the light leak overlay at one point in the video, bc I thought that it could look good both with and without it ^^
And yes, I am aware that my added flickers are off ^^ I thought that adding them during only the silent parts made it look a little strange, I decided to add them all throughout that part ^^ Maybe it wouldve been better if I left them out entirely, but oh well.
Eeeehhh and I had the problem that this video actually froze while rendering in MMD near the end of the whole process, so I had to start it all over again, and what started as a render at 11:30 PM or smth, ended up lasting until like 2 AM once I re-rendered it XD
After rendering I deduced that it could have frozen maybe due to other programs running in the background, tho ^^
And this took around 35 minutes to render in Vegas today I think, so ye ^^

Hello everyone! Ive had the idea of hosting a MEP for a few years now, but this year ive finally found a song and an incentive to do so! And now i finally have the time to host it!
So welcome to my first MEP~ Its a MEP that combines both anime and video games! c:
Anyone is allowed to take part, but please read the rules carefully if youd like participate! They are written below.

Its taken a very long time to close this MEP, but im very happy that we have arrived at that day! If you see that your part is still here and you would like to drop yours, please let me know. Otherwise, please have fun editing your parts!
â Deadline and reminders are added below! â
~ Rules ! ~
1. The theme/style for this MEP is dark. Give your clip choices and effects an eerie feeling if possible. Please dont use pastel colors or an overall soft aesthetic.
2. You can use whichever video editing program you are comfortable with (such as Sony Vegas, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Alight Motion), but I will check your channel to see your work, to see if it could suit this MEP.
3. One person can take up to 2 tracks. If you choose to do 2 tracks, your chosen tracks and the tracks you will be given depend on their availability.
4. Any anime and video game is accepted, but please only use appropriate content. You can use either an anime or a video game for your part. You can mix together anime and video games if you use an anime and game from one series. (Example: Danganronpa and Danganronpa 3; Sonic and Sonic X)
5. Dont use fanart in your parts. You are free to use official art.
6. Render your part in 1080p (if possible) and in 30 fps. 720p is also acceptable. Make your video fullscreen.
7. Use clips without subtitles or watermarks.
8. Dont tamper with the audio of your part.
9. If you plan to use lyrics in your part, please make sure that they are correct! A site with lyrics for this song will be provided below.
10. Dont add your own watermark, I will add this for you.
11. Extend your last clip to at least 10 more seconds at the end for transition purposes.
12. And of course, have fun!
If you take track 1 - please include the text Anime, Video game and 1940 MEP in your part!
If you take track 12 - please include the usernames of the editors who are participating, in your part!
