Writing a word to the EEPROM, quite a complex process …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the last video we’ve read the whole configuration from the EEPROM into the memory and decoded each and every parameter (link below). That’s well and good, but to change any of these parameters we’ll have to write to the EEPROM.
We start with an overview over the whole process. Then we look at the details of the six required messages and implement them. After that we’re able to code a method to write to the EEPROM. Of course we test at the end if everything works.
00:00 Intro – we will write a word to the EEPROM
00:53 Overview – 6 messages and 4 SPI transactions
07:59 OpCodes – 6 of them with inconsistent names
10:23 Code 1 –adding the OpCodes & housekeeping
12:38 EEWrite message – send address, data and a key
14:14 Code 2 – new/extended data structures & EEWrite
18:48 EERequest message – asking to be challenged
19:16 Code 3 – just EERequest
19:47 EEChallenge message – challenging the master
20:09 Code 4 – MISOMessage extended & EEChallenge
21:06 EEResponse – answering the challenge
21:56 Code 5 – MOSIMessage extended & EEResponse
23:23 EEWriting message – the EEPROM is written to
24:00 EEStatus message – learning how things went
24:48 Code 6 – MISOMessage, new enum & EEStatus
26:52 Sequence – all the messages in the right order
28:59 Code 7 – eepromWrite method doing all the work
33:01 Code 8 – a sketch to test the whole thing
34:36 Test – hard to demonstrate, but it works
36:37 Wrap-up – next we write config parameters, bye
