This is one of several covers, arrangements and original pieces I've written for Mega Man: The Sequel Wars, a remake/remix of the last 3 NES Mega Man games for the Sega Genesis. You can download the latest version of the game (up to Mega Man 4) on Romhacking.net (romhacking.net/homebrew/183/) or Itch.io (woodfrog.itch.io/mega-man-the-sequel-wars-episode-red), and be sure to follow the game's development on its Twitter account (twitter.com/MMSequelWars) or YouTube page (youtube.com/channel/UCh6puDO3hd_Tz_zCiDoD2lQ/featured).
Just covering NES tracks was bound to get stale after long enough, so Woodfrog and I both tried our hands at covering tracks from the Game Boy Mega Man titles to flesh out Sequel Wars's soundtrack. The boundless optimism from this Mega Man IV piece (youtube.com/watch?v=xO5gJ17F5pw&t=761s) was a perfect match for the FM techniques I was testing at the time—so much so that I added an original B section just because I could.
Even though I intended the track for a shop or trailer theme, it ended up as the title theme for the game's SAGE demo. It lost its A section in the transition (space limitations and all that), so this video is—for now—the only way you can hear the cover in its complete form.
