Harriet Tubman was known as the "Moses of her people" for her work on the Underground Railroad leading enslaved people to freedom. Through thirteen trips, she led 70 people to liberty without ever being caught or losing a "passenger." During the Civil War, she helped liberate over 700 enslaved people during the Combahee River Raid. Later in life, her work as a prominent Suffragist continued her dedication to securing liberty for all.
During this program, professional living history interpreter Peggy Harris will portray Harriet Tubman and tell her fascinating story.
