I've always liked Rising Sun, but I do agree that it definitely didn't have the same impact or appeal as Frontline. Pacific Assault on the PC was also a better game, however, Rising Sun is still a solid WWII FPS. I'm glad that EA decided to showcase the Pacific Theater of Operations, because up to this point, WWII FPS games were pretty much focused on the European operations.
The game starts out with an epic Pearl Harbor intro, and then takes you island hopping to cover the pacific war. The European War seems to get most of the attention and glory, but the stories of the brave men who sacrificed in the Pacific is no less important to learn about in my opinion.
The game itself isn't perfect, nor is it the best in the series, nor the best pacific WWII game, but Rising Sun is a good game, and it worth playing if you happen to be collecting for the PS2/Xbox/GCN.
