May 20: Conor Caloia -- The World's Game, Madison's Club: Celebrating the Summer of Soccer with Forward Madison FC

Conor Caloia, spoke to us about “The World’s Game: The Business of Soccer,” an account of the remarkable growth of soccer in the United States, and, in particular, in Madison, which has a men’s and women’s team. Conor is co-owner of Forward Madison FC and Rally Madison FC, respectively. According to Conor, in the age-under-35, soccer is more popular than either baseball or basketball. Today, one in four children play soccer. There are more than one thousand teams in Madison! The pro teams here play at Breese Stevens Field, on artificial turf. Our men’s league is 3rd Division. “Relegation” will begin soon in the U.S., and Forward Madison will be included. Rally Madison is a “pre-professional team, with players from the best in college. Rotary Night at Breese Stevens is coming up on July 15!
