NIL and What It Means for Wisconsin Athletics
BRIAN MASON was named Director of Name, Image, Likeness Strategy at the University of Wisconsin in August 2022. A 15-year veteran of Wisconsin Athletics, he leads UW's NIL strategy and the ongoing development of the Badgers’ holistic NIL program for student-athletes. In just two years, the reversal of age-old restrictions on college student-athletes’ ability to control and monetize their own name, image and likeness (NIL) has led to sweeping changes throughout the landscape of collegiate athletics. Brian will examine the impact of these changes on UW’s athletic program and its student-athletes, as well as the opportunities that exist when businesses and brands align themselves with Badgers.
