Just found a new way to do Sky Jumps, but the difference is that this new version can be done during a New Game, and it doesn't require any enemies or infinite painkillers.

Works on unpatched, and on the active patch (on the date of this upload), doesn't work in Multiplayer.

Firstly, the skip:
You can skip the large warehouse fight during a new game speedrun. This is done by doing the new Sky Jump towards the water out-of-bounds. Once you hit the water, the game teleports you to the area before the final Docks. The large gate that leads to the bridge is open, and data is pre-loaded into the prompt that activates the bridge (rare for the game to do such a thing).

If you proceed to the final 'explosion scene'-trigger it won't play. So - at the point where my videos ends - you have to exit to the main menu and select 'Continue' in order to get the game to load everything normally (I played on until the next chapter and everything worked out as it should). In terms of loading, this skip is only for a New Game since a regular Restart won't make the game load everything correctly.

Sky Jump (version 2):
Previously only one single (useful) way was known to get Max to slide to his gun while he had a gun-prompt buffered. And that was to Melee an enemy while the prompt was buffered.

But now there is this method which is much more convenient to do:
1. Go to the base of a ledge that Max is able to climb on top of (not a 'vaulting ledge', must be able to stay on top of it).

2. Drop a long gun at the base of the ledge (alternatively, you can buffer a handgun to drop to the base of the ledge).

3. Start to climb the ledge, but a frame later, activate the gun prompt and then Shootdodge (I recommend Shootdodging after Max has taken a few steps, since Sky Jumps seem to work better if there is more distance between Max and the gun).

4. The gun prompt will now be buffered while Max is shootdodging (which is a unique state in itself). And once Max lands, he will suddenly slide to where the gun is and pick it up.

And as with version 1 - if there are certain objects in the way of Max's slide-trajectory - Max will do Sky Jumps. So keep this in mind when you are setting-up the glitch...make sure there is 'stuff' in the way between where Max buffered the gun prompt, and where he lands at the end of his Shootdodge.

5. There are all sorts of rules, subtle tips and tricks to becoming airborne when you zip against objects. But I'd exceed YouTube's character limits if I tried.

So the main tips I'll give are:
(a) Sliding towards ledges that are waist height (like low cover areas), give some of the best results for vertical jumps. Sliding towards 'loose' objects around, tend to be best for horizontal jumps.

(b) Don't slide at right angles towards flat objects, try to slide as if you want to go through the object in a diagonal path, or parallel along its side edge.

(c) Try to put as much distance between Max and the buffered gun when setting up the glitch.

(d) Keep an eye-out for any "bobbling" Max may do during a slide, this may mean it's a good spot.

EDIT: since the set-up of this glitch is so different to version 1, it opens up new glitching potential. For example, what would happen if you buffered a gun and then did a Shootdodge into a cutscene trigger? Or jumped into death collision? More testing underway...

EDIT 2: this version has already allowed new Sky Jumps in places where you previously couldn't. Due to lack of enemies, or too many enemies.
