A New Game speedrun of the Castle Courtyard chapter 6-1, done on first visit (1min 33sec approx).
Points of interest:
1. Skipping the Courtyard battle - This is done by manipulating the enemy AI, to be able to turn the crank unhindered.
My method is 99% consistent: It involves running to the spot that I did, just as the guards appear. In order to - eventually - lure the guard closest to the door, to your location (later on, this will cause the guards to get in each other's way as they approach you).
Once the guards appear, throw daggers at the guard closest to the crank. This forces him to do his “ground pound” attack, which is an attack that is followed-up by a long period of inactivity. This becomes especially long since he first has to turn around to face you at the crank.
Once he does this ground pound attack, jump the attack's shockwave and then go turn the crank asap! (at which point, the guard that you threw knives at will block the other guard. Due to the “luring trick” I mentioned at the start). Having one guard walking against the back of the other guard - as he tries to get to you - seems to cause both their AI to become somewhat docile. (?)
For various reasons, this sequence of events causes the guards to be more-or-less idle as you turn the crank.
2. Skipping the Ice Pit battle - As you jump into the hole in the middle of the Courtyard, make sure you jump in with as much horizontal momentum as possible (try to jump across, more than straight down). This horizontal momentum enables you to do a rudimentary long jump with air attacks and water bombs, to end up at the upper-area of the pit. Thus skipping the Warg/Skeletons battle.
NOTE1: It may be possible to take the NG+ oob route, to skip the Courtyard battle. However, without a second jump during NG you'd be forced to fight the Ice Pit battle.
NOTE 2: For anyone who is wondering why I have 8 Fairies and 6 water bottles, is because it's possible to get some Brotherhood boxes before you should be able to, during a New Game first visit run. This allows you to have more gear during your run than normal, please see my other vids to find our how to do this.
