Alas, missed the world record (at the time) by a minute and twenty seconds, but this is a respectable submission for the category and excellent practice.
What went well:
EVERY SINGLE GOAL was on time for Bowser- including every MVP and Peach 5 strikeouts.
(although having Peach MVP before Bowser means that you had to play an extra game...)
In particular, Big Plays were absolutely painless and Double Play w/Peach was ahead of schedule.
Most minigames were 1st try
Several solid Mercy Rules- Mario (2nd inning), DK (3rd inning), and Wario 2 (2nd inning)
What went wrong:
2nd try Peach Wall Ball 300
2 false starts on 1st Yoshi game (lost about 3 minutes)
Yoshi took 2 full games, plus 1 Bowser Jr. to pick up strays. Not ideal.
2nd try Toadsworth win Barrel Batter
Played a COMPLETELY unnecessary game against Bowser Jr. because I was impatient getting to DK's match
Bowser went bad - 1 false start due to missing Bowser K in the first inning, one 3rd-inning run allowed, and one 1st inning run allowed. 4th try overall.
What went alright but could have gone better:
Note Block was hit 43 minutes in... I kept going because I wanted to complete a run, but my tolerance for how long I should try Note Block before resetting and doing the setup again is going down in the future.
Wario took two games, but the 2nd was an extremely fast Mercy Rule, so it was overall not bad
My successful Bowser game got a Mercy Rule in the 6th inning - only saving me one inning of play, but any amount of time not spent worrying about allowing a home run in Bowser is awesome.
My journey to finish every captain category continues, but I'm of course going to return to Peach at some point. When I finally get that sub 10 Note Block... whew, it'll be a good, good day.

Awesome. Definitely not perfect, especially with those batting and Bob-Omb Derby performances, but this is an overall competent and clear demonstration of my solution for the Mario IL. A quick and efficient Jr. defense encounter for Big Play, followed by a 16 PA first-inning mercy with no heinous mistakes in the execution. Truth be told, I was expecting to be resetting for much longer...
I eventually settled on Monty for the pitcher during the Jr match because he seemed to have the easiest time beaning Jr, which is much faster than switching Marios position a second time. Jr doesnt line out to SS or 2B hardly ever, either, so I gave up on trying to make Jr in particular work for me. Better to just roll the Bones again and be done with it. 1:08 is definitely on the faster end of Jr. encounters I was getting in attempts up to this point. Under a minute is possible if you can get the Big Play as pitcher against the first Dry Bones, who has a 25% chance of bunting. I still havent gotten the bunt Big Play, but I believe it to be possible (Marios just not as quick as Toadette and it shows...)
I used RNG manip to obtain what I determined to be the ideal Bowser Jr. encounter - runners on 1st and 2nd rather than fully loaded bases, and with Jr. moving as directly into my path on the overworld map as I could convince him to. To do this, you need to soft reset the game, go into the Exhibition Games first screen, and then call for a random captain 7 times. This calls the RNG responsible for directing Bowser Jr.s map movement 112 times, which is why I refer it as RNG [112]. Then just move up and right like I did, and youll get the encounter.
I went back and forth between DK and Wario for my main match opponent, usually opting for Wario if Jr. wasnt blocking my path and DK if he was. I cant say why I decided to go for DK rather than Wario given Jr. wasnt in my way this time around, but suffice it to say I dont regret the decision in the slightest.
