(My splits end the run 5 seconds later than it actually finished- time ends on the last out in the final matches, whereas I split 5 seconds later when the MVP screen became visible. 2:03:53 is the correct time.)
My very first submission to Speedrun.com and my very first world record!
What went well:
Got Pianta Home Run in 1st game vs. Yoshi
Monty Mole goals other than Squeeze Bunt were on time
Mario Big Play and Fireball Swing were solidly on schedule (both during Peach)
Noki and Pianta both done after the game vs. DK
Piranha Panic, Wall Ball, Chain Chomp Sprint, and notably Toy Field were first try
Luigi Jumping Catch was done JUST in time during the game vs. Wario
Every mandatory match including Bowser was completed first try
What went wrong:
THIRD TRY Bob-Omb Derby (Oof...)
FIFTH TRY Barrel Batter (Ouch...)
DID NOT get Mario Grand Slam or Monty Mole Squeeze Bunt on time
TWO EXTRA GAMES: Monty Squeeze Bunt and Luigi Shutout in first, Grand Slam in second
What was alright but could have gone better:
No games (including Bowser) went to Mercy Rule, and a few were slow. Some Mercy Rules would have saved time
Did not get Luigi Jumping Catch early enough to enable a Luigi Shutout attempt vs. DK or Wario
I'm happy with this run, but I'm certain I'll be attempting this category again in the future. If I can get a 5-game finish, which I know I can do, THAT might convince me to stop. This is good enough for now.
