Margarehte von Trotta became famous as an actress in the late sixties and seventies starring in films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Volker Schlöndorff. Already during her acting career she needed to be courageous. As a director she reflected many times about courage expecially in portraying historic characters such as Rosa Luxemburg, Gudrun Ensslin, Hildegard von Bingen oder Hannah Arendt. To us she spoke about this central issue of her life and profession.
