Scripps News | Manchin says he won't endorse Harris after the VP mentioned ending Senate filibuster @scrippsnews | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 2 days ago.
Sen. Joe Manchin said on Tuesday he will not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president after she said in a radio interview that the Senate should eliminate the filibuster to codify abortion rights nationally. By getting rid of the filibuster, the number of votes needed to codify abortion rights would decrease from 60 to 51.
“Shame on her,” Manchin told CNN. “She knows the filibuster is the Holy Grail of democracy. It’s the only thing that keeps us talking and working together. If she gets rid of that, then this would be the House on steroids.”
