Hurricane Helene caused significant, widespread devastation throughout the southeastern United States. But of all the states affected by the storm, North Carolina may have been hit the hardest.

Scripps News' Tomas Hoppough visited Fairview, NC, to see the storm's impact and how the community there is rallying around one another to help those in need.

"These people would literally die for me," Fairview resident Sam Rodas said about the community.
