Scripps News | Trump claims victory in debate rejecting rematch as new poll shifts in Harris’ favor @scrippsnews | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 2 days ago.
Despite former President Donald Trump claiming victory and rejecting a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, a new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Harris leading Trump nationally by 5% points.
In addition, majority of those polled said Harris outperformed Trump in the debate, and slightly more than half said the former president stumbled and did not seem sharp.
Yesterday, Trump rejected a proposed rematch with Harris, insisting he had already scored a "monumental victory."
With more debates appearing to be off the table, both candidates will focus separately on the battleground states where the race could be lost or won.
