Jerry O'Donnell, The Press Secretary for Rep. Grace Napolitano of California's 38th Congressional District of the House of Representatives discusses some of the pending legislation facing Congress in this edition of "Brethren Voices." He shares his feelings about the economy which he feels is the most important issue of the day. He states much regret that this country's economy is "built" around military spending.
The Church of the Brethren has had quite an impact on the life of Jerry O'Donnell. He grew up in the Church of the Brethren near Philadelphia and graduated from Juniata College. He has served in Brethren Volunteer Service and been involved in work camps to assist Brethren youth to put their faith into action.
During April 2013, Jerry met with 55 youth of the Church of the Brethren's Christian Citizenship Seminar. He shared his thoughts and recommendations for communicating with congressional representatives. Above all, he feels that it's important to make letters and other communications personal.
