Making artificial gems. Part 1: fish black (matsyakajjala) @AyurYogProject

This video shows a reconstruction of a recipe from the Rasaratnākara (vādakhaṇḍa 19. 2-5ab) for making a product called "fish collyrium" (Sanskrit: matsyakajjala). This is the base product that is then applied to make a variety of artificial gems. In our experiment, we will follow the guidelines for making artificial rubies (Rasaratnākara Vādakhaṇḍa 19. 5cd-6). This is the first step, and two further videos will follow.
