Here's the aquatic region of Lurruna's caves.
Hoo-boy. Deep water in a retro(-inspired) platformer, amirite? Here's how that's works in this game:
Mercifully, you can't drown in this game, but you also can't swim, either. The game just treats your movement no differently from being on dry land.
What DOES still affect you, however, are your bombs. Wet bombs become total duds. They will basically do half the damage of regular bombs by not exploding on contact. Not even battery-boosting them will work through these duds.
The ONLY exception I discovered, though, is if you have Dafne toss her bombs at zero-point range of your targets. This will let them still explode even while underwater. This probably wasn't intentional, but nonetheless, I'll call this a "Bomb Punch".
---------
A few rooms of Act 1 have you chased around by pink fish that charge up a Spin Jump at you. Time your bomb lobbing right and they shouldn't be too much of a problem.
There are also big purple monsters here that spit... Tide Pods at you...? HA!
The midboss at the end of Act 1 is a big smug bug that can jump pretty high. The bombs he launches from his back explode along the surface of the water in the room you're fighting him in, and he can shake the room to manipulate the water's flow.
----
Act 2 starts with an elevator ride. You'll have to fight off some enemies during the course upwards.
Later, you will have to utilize some green platforms to progress. The particular formation of them at 7:55 may be very tricky to figure out without plummeting to your death. At least it was for me.
----
After going for another dip at the end of Act 2, the main boss you fight here is a huge mechanical whale!
This super-segmented whale's weakness is its eyes, but it's also where it unleashes some of its attacks. One attack not involving its eyes involves raising the water level to let huge mines float on by. You're better off dodging them entirely rather than blowing them up, as their explosions will hurt you!
Blow this whale's eyes out, and then its head and the rest of its body will follow soon afterwards.
