As we all know its easy to lose the miniquads in tall grass or behind obstacles, so a discovery buzzer is really useful, most of us use the standard 5v piezo buzzer which has very limited range.
I really like the loc8tor tags for longer range finding, but the cost puts a lot of people off, and a louder buzzer would work for most situations.
Adrian found a louder buzzer designed for 12v, but runs on 5v and is much louder, but is pricey with postage, so I wanted to find a cheaper/louder solution.
I found this personal siren on ebay for £1.63 delivered, which came today, I cracked it open and wired in a JST plug, and its seriously loud - my ears are still ringing.
My good 5v piezo registers 80db on my cheap noise meter at 26ma, which really isn't very loud, its certainly audible, but range would be pretty limited.
Adrians big beeper is 93db at 30ma which is loud by anyone's standard, and weighs ~30g with wire/plug.
The personal siren is uncomfortably loud in the house, records same 93db on noise meter, but sounds about twice as loud - it does draw more current at 80ma but weighs less at ~17g with plug/wire.
I don't know if 80ma is OK for the naze32/KK2 buzzer output ? (I've seen people running 1W LEDs on the KK2 which is 200ma, so I assume should be fine).
