This video shows four different aspects of the shokuhin sampuru (food replica) production process using wax.

● Mold-making: The food items to be reproduced are arranged in a box and liquid agar jelly is poured over them to make a mold. The agar jelly turns white when set. Once the agar has set, the food items are removed to reveal the molds.
● Casting: Colored wax, matching the original food items, is poured into the agar molds. Once hardened, the wax models are removed from the agar molds, and any excess material is trimmed away.
● Coloring: The wax models are then colored by hand using airbrushes, stencils, and paint brushes.
● Presentation: With reference to photographs and sketches, the different parts are assembled on a dish. A finishing gloss is then applied, and the process is complete.
