On International Women’s Day, JAPAN HOUSE LA hosted a special talk featuring astronaut Naoko Yamazaki and space traveler Akiko Tito, two trailblazing Japanese women in space exploration. Made possible by Nitto Tire, this conversation explored their groundbreaking journeys and vision for a more inclusive space future.

Naoko Yamazaki, Japan’s second female astronaut, made history as part of the first all-female crew on the ISS in 2010. She later advocated for women in STEM and space education. Akiko Tito, a licensed pilot and investor, became one of the first crew members on SpaceX’s Starship mission to the Moon.

Their insights shed light on the vital role women play in space exploration, inspiring future pioneers and showing how space is a shared human endeavor. It was a unique opportunity to hear from two extraordinary women shaping the future of space.
