I know there are other better sounding videos of the song "Rings" here on YouTube but this one will sure bring back the memories! (If you're looking to hear the song, look elsewhere, if you're looking to bring back memories, you're at the right place!) Here is my worn out "The Best of Lobo" 8-Track being played in the 1973 3M Wollensak 8055 8-track deck. Someone must have played this tape in a dirty player as it has uneven tape wear (programs 1 & 3 sound muffled with low treble and 2 & 4 sound alright). Don't let the sound quality of this video fool you, with a nice well maintained player and a good tape, 8-tracks can actually sound good. If you can't tell, I recorded this with my smartphone so that should explain the poorer sound quality. I'm in the process of getting a better camera with a stereo audio input.
Update: The Wollensak 8055 in this video has since gone under the screwdriver and has received a new motor, new belt, new electrolytic caps, a capstan resurface, and a full speed, head and preamp alignment. One of the best sounding decks out there.
