LNER A2 60532 Blue Peter heads over Shap unassisted on the Cumbrian Mountaineer. Saphos Trains and Locomotive Services LTD have finally bit the bullet and are now providing steam hauled enthusiast specials with no diesels in sight. This is the 2nd of three excursions which will feature their big locomotives which are part of their impressive fleet. The first one ran last year with 71000 Duke Of Gloucester which topped Shap at 46mph, so very similar speeds although Blue Peter had one coach less. The 3rd special excursion will take place in March with 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley !

The video captures three angles on Shap. The first scene is on the lower part of the Gradient at Scout Green, then half way up there's a short scene at Salterwath and then finally near the top just after Shap Wells.
