There was a nostalgia overload at the East Lancashire Railway's Legends Of Steam II event, as ex Southern Railway Battle Of Britain class 34081 '92 Squadron is dolled up with Devon Belle regalia. I'm led to believe this is the first time in preservation that an engine has been turned out in near full decoration. Obviously no Pullmans feature and there's no real Devon Belle observation saloon, despite the railway's own observation saloon tucked on the rear. Also its running in the wrong part of the country but the effort put in was widely appreciated by many. Still, what a great sight to see a malachite green spamcan sporting such famous railway regalia.
The event would also see LNER B1 61306 'Mayflower' head over from Crewe courtesy of LSL. The loco was brought in to replace 60163 Tornado which pulled from the event a few weeks ago. The other two locos which feature are fellow spamcan 34092 'City Of Wells' and LMS 'Black Five' 44871. All scenes are captured on the Sunday. With the grey skies on offer it was nice to have some colourful locos on display. A special thanks to East Lancs Railway for hosting the event and to the people responsible for turning out 92 Squadron in all its glory !
