The unrivaled SVR autumn steam gala has once again rolled in and this year would see the return of the overnight services along with four visiting locos.
This video aims to cover the visiting engines with just a few of home fleet making appearances. In my opinion the homefleet can be captured at anytime of the year and the visitors are only here for the long weekend. The action is captured over three days and I have condensed the video down to my favourite shots which make for a watchable time duration.
Anyway, the the stars of the show as stated above are the visitors. So it was great to have the first ever Merchant Navy Class locomotive in the form of 35006 Peninsular & Oriental courtesy of 35006 Locomotive Co.LTD and the GWSR. The big bulleid made for a superb sight on the SVR and put in a few tasty performances which was unexpected due to its power and size dwarfing this former little Great Western branchline.
Also making its first time appearance on the Severn Valley was B.R STD 5 73082 Camelot which has come from the Bluebell Railway courtesy of Camelot Locomotive Society. The STD 5 was a firm favourite across the gala due its chime whistle and loud bark.
The third visitor to attend this year's gala was the little LMS Jinty tank engine 47298 and it was earmarked as a possible star of the show and going by the snippet which I captured on day one and posted, the loco from all accounts performed well over the four days with lots of enjoyment had by those who traveled behind it. The loco was visiting from the East Lancs Railway.
The final engine to visit was NCB Austerity tank engine No49 courtesy of the Tanfield Railway, This plucky little loco was also a fan favorite across the weekend.
Having looked back on my captured footage there were plenty of highlights across my three days and I hope you enjoy what I've posted.
