You see if you are going to believe in the literal "truth" of the bible and take it literally then literally is the only way that you can read it.
In this episode Isaac is granting his blessing to whoever brings him a spicy meatloaf.
Of course he thinks that the person that he will be blessing with be Esau, his eldest son, mainly because he was the one that Isaac asked to get him a spicy meatloaf but as this is Genesis, it's not that simple and by the end of the chapter somebody is going to get screwed over and conned out of something and you just know that the wrong person is going to get blamed
