Lifting heavy weights isn’t pretty… but it is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth. 🏋️♀️
When we lift heavy, we build and keep muscle — which is one of the strongest predictors of how well we age.
More muscle means:
• 🔥 Higher metabolism (so you’re less prone to weight gain as you age)
• 💪 Better insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control
• 🦴 Stronger bones and fewer fractures
• 🧠 Lower inflammation and better mood
• 🕺 Independence, confidence, and physical freedom for decades longer
After 30 we lose 3–8% of muscle every decade (faster after 50), unless we fight back.
Muscles don’t care how red your face gets. They need to be challenged.
I started lifting at 52, my mum at 82. It’s never too late to change how you age ❤️
