Moomintroll has many friends within Moominvalley, to the point that you can count those he actually dislikes on one hand. Of all of his friends, however, Snufkin is by far the one be cares for the deepest. They spend as much time together as possible and Moomintroll is alway sad to see his carefree friend depart the valley for the winter.
Snufkin always returns with the spring, but perhaps he expected it to have arrived already and thus has returned when the snow still blankets the valley. We could sure use his help in setting up the Great Winter Bonfire and I've no doubt he'd be glad to help. I mean, it's not like this is a completely different person that's similar to but not quite the same as Moomin's best friend, right?
