Either there's a small amount of negative relics for you to pick from at the end of the first and second acts or I've been unlucky with having many of the same ones from the previous run reappear, but I can't complain about the one I chose to bring into the castle. We already have quite a few relics and are picking up even more of them which negates the downside, but are we building a strong enough selection of orbs?

Sure, we're not having too much difficulty here, but the mines is where the game ramps up its challenge and I have no idea what the final act will throw at me, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm not good at making strong builds in this game. Luck has its part to play, of course, but most of it is me being a doofus.
