Creating the Intros.
Right on.
Let’s get started by creating a new project.
I’m doing this in a new project, because I want the introductions to be short videos that I will import to my animations.
Again, this step is totally optional, you can ignore it or you can follow it.
Ok. If you want to keep learning this process, then let’s get to it.
I will start by creating a new comp. I press control N, or command N on mac, and name it “INTRO 01 introduction”

I make sure the preset is HDTV 1080 24, and the color is the background we picked.

Then, I will make this comp to last for 30 seconds. I already have it like that, but if you don’t have it on 30 seconds, just select that number and type 30 point zero.

Then press ok.
Now, I will continue by importing the color palette from our other project.
I go to File menu, Import, file…
Or press control I.
From here, I will go to the project files and select the second file called importing audio and following the pipeline

Click on import and voila.
The color palette is now imported.
We are not going to use it yet. But we will be in another step.
Now let’s create the next lessons, The next will be INTRO 02 Language and Communication

In your case, you will create all the intros for all the lessons you have.
I will go ahead and do that, but I will pause the recording until I have all the comps created.
…
There.

Let me make some space in the project panel, to see all the names correctly… and extend the name column… there.

Good.
Now time to add a background to each of them.
I will add the background to the first two, and then I will pause the recording.
Lets open the first intro comp, by double clicking on it in the project panel.

Then create a new solid, I press control Y, or command Y on mac. And I will name it background

From the dialog box, click on the button “Make comp size”, and I already have the color for the background. If not just use the eye dropper tool to pick the color from the background.

Press ok.
And we now have a comp with a background.

For the other comps, all I have to do is select that background layer, and copy…

Open the second intro comp, by double clicking on it in the project panel, and paste the background there…

After pasting, make sure you click the lock switch. This is important, because the background should not move.
The lock switch is on the left side of the name of the layer…

Make sure you go back to the fist intro comp and do the same…

And I will do that with all the other comps. I will pause the recording, and resume once I’m finished.
…
There, I now have a background on all the intro comps.

Oh, and I just have to lock this last background…

There…
Please notice that you do need to have a background, even if in your comp you don’t see much difference, there is something happening… Before there was nothing in the screen, even if you saw a pale turquoise, there was nothing, and a render will give you a black screen.
So you need the backgrounds to avoid a black screen.
You need that pale turquoise solid to act as a background.
Good.
Now in the next lesson, I will show you how to prepare the colors for the franchise animated typefaces.
See you there.
