Engagement.
Engagement in Udemy, means how much does your students comment on the discussions, leave a rating, or keep watching the entire video.
For example, I noticed, that contrary to other courses, I managed to improve my engagement in Udemy.
If you already have posted some courses in Udemy as an instructor, you can go to your course page…
In this case, this is the cinematography course…
then go to Manage course…
Then, you go to Student satisfaction…
In here…
You can see the student engagement from the past 3 months.
As you can see, thanks to the dynamic presentations, the average minutes consumed are 25 mins.
And I have 33 minutes per active student.
Which is pretty good.
That means that my students watch my course above average… at least today…
That number goes up and goes down… right now is pretty good. 33 minutes is very good engagement.
And how does this impact this course?
Well, I know that the engagement can influence your rankings, because Udemy tends to rank better the courses that show good engagement.
So, if you go to brouse courses, design, and 3d and animation…
Which is my category… you will find that the course from Janet, which was animated by me, Cinematography for 2d animation essentials, is ranked, at least today, as the number one in the top free courses in 3d and animation.
So you see, having a good engagement, in my case, as of now, the engagement is 33 minutes, which is higher than the average…
Can help to rank better in Udemy.
Now. I don’t know if this is the case, maybe the engagement doesn’t have to do with the ranking, but I have every reason to believe that is totally possible.
So, anyway, I suggest you take the engagement very seriously, and help your students to have a great time while learning.
This course will teach you how to create a great learning experience for your students.
That way, whenever you announce a new course, they will now is entertaining, fun and educative.
Like Emilio Crespo said in one of his reviews:
He would like to see more in depth courses. See? People are expecting more.
So, yep, you should take the user experience very seriously.
Ok. Now, let’s talk about the efficiency, how to come up with high quality animations, and at the shortest amount of time.
That will be covered in the next lesson.
