![[Former PB] Super Mario 64 DS 8 Star Speedrun in 17:51
This run is no longer my PB. Click here for a faster run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1AEmTVy0Us
This was played on Version US 1.1 of SM64DS on my Nintendo 3DS. The final time for this run was 17:51 because I started the run from a 0 Star file instead of a new file. This skips the 2 minute intro cutscene at the start of the game, but in order to have runs that start from 0 star files line up with other runs on the leaderboard, an additional 1:56 is added on to whatever time you got.
I still cant believe I managed to PB by a decent amount of time from my previous PB (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xqL5wS9_RQ), considering that I long jumped and bonked in HMC, missed a Bowser throw in the Fire Sea, failed the upstairs Rabbit Clip five times, bonked and fell down really far in the Sky, and missed a Bowser throw in the final Bowser fight. If I can manage to get a run without these mistakes then maybe I can get Sub 17.
Theres no game audio because my brother was asleep while doing this run and also my house is really tiny.

I TASed this in less than one week, and I managed to save 100 frames from the old Rescue the Princess TAS.

Timing starts as soon as the game turns on and ends on the first frame the game crashes.
What I did in the video is actually very easy. Just go to the Multiplayer section on the title screen, go to the Single-Card Game option and quit out of it. The game should crash shortly after quitting out. I dont know for sure why it happens, but my guess is that emulators simply cannot support Wireless Play like how a physical DS can, so it crashes.

I recently found this mashup called You Reposted in the Wrong Neighborhood and found out that everyone was using it in their videos. I thought it was pretty cool, so I thought Id give it a try.

![[TAS] SM64DS - Metal-Head Wario Can Move (Luigi, 28.53)
Note: The room where Dorrie is (i.e. the room Luigi clips into) normally stays unloaded when you’re in a different room, but I used a cheat to make it stay loaded. This has no effect on the gameplay whatsoever and the TAS plays back the same way when I don’t use any cheats.
For those who are wondering: yes, this is real. This glitch, which is called quantum tunneling (or just “tunneling” for short) was discovered by Really_Tall a few weeks ago, and him and bobbybob, Josh65536, and Migu helped me understand how it works. Basically, there are many areas in SM64DS where the seams of floor triangles don’t exactly line up, which creates a tiny gap that you can clip through if you have just the right X, Y, and Z coordinates and have at most -204800 Y velocity.

Time to take out the trash!
I really like how this level turned out because of a new method for wall clipping I found while TASing, which involves pressing A to morph into a ball as Homer while an enemy is pushing you into a wall thats on your right. Using this new method in the lava and ice sections saves a considerable amount of time from their previous strats.
