A cover of "Leaves from the Vine", also known as "Little Soldier Boy" from the TV Show Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Both me and Noble are pretty big fans of this series of this series, so when he suggested this one, it was a no brainer! At the time of uploading this, we both had seen Avatar: The Last Airbender Live in Concert so we were both feeling pretty inspired! Furthermore, I got a pipa! So this song was just the perfect choice in all sense!
The arrangement is a relatively simple one, keeping the pipa as the primary focus, with a few embellishments here and there to keep it interesting. Noble layed down some bass and I added some keys in the second half of the arrangement just to mix it up from the original, and give it a slightly fuller sound than just the pipa on its own.
We also made the tough decision not to include vocals on this one out of respect to the original singer and voice actor of Uncle Iroh - the late Mako Iwamatsu. The original was one of the last recordings he made before passing, and it was a phenomenal performance so we thought we should leave it instrumental, as our way of paying respects.
