LANSING, Ill. – For more than 15 years, a dedicated team of volunteers from All Souls Catholic Parish has brought Lansing together for the annual Our Lady of Guadalupe celebration at St. Ann Church. Held on the Sunday before December 12 — the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe — this Mass honors one of the most beloved traditions in Mexican Catholic culture.
For many of Lansing’s first-generation Latino families, this day is a powerful reminder of home, heritage, and faith. The celebration also helps younger generations connect with the richness of their cultural identity and the story of Juan Diego’s miraculous encounter with Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This year’s service was led by Father Ed Shea, who serves parishes in Gary, Indiana. Children of All Souls performed the story of the apparitions, adding a beautiful and meaningful dimension to the celebration.
The Planning Committee included Susy Padilla Arteaga, Delia Diaz, Melva Armijos, Rosa Garrido, Ruvi Venegas, Carmen Padilla, Martha Vargas, Lolita Garcia, Edith Martinez, Moni Gutierrez, and Maria de Jesus Casillas.
