In my landscape and woodland photography I often try to capture photographs 'about something' rather than 'of something'. If there is a story to be told then I want to tell that story by shooting in conditions that compliment the subject and how I perceive it. I find that my metaphors and thought processes help me to have a considered approach to give the image substance and meaning. It's true that the viewer may not see what I see but I enjoy it from a personal perspective and it helps me with composition.
There's plenty of things that I like about the first image - Textures, subdued colour, space and the snow allowing the shape of the trees to stand out. Everything has been composed to highlight the key areas of character in the trees. However, it's not quite a keeper and I have every intention of returning to hopefully capture the image I can visualise (although too much snow might hide that nice fallen branch). Hopefully I'll be videoing when it happens!
