Check out this new to me set of 12 Kuretake Gansai Tambi Japanese watercolors that I purchased in Japan this summer. I also found this amazing set of 6 traditional Japanese watercolors and will swatch those out as well. I am interested to see how this other brand compares to the more well know Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors. I think of these traditional Japanese watercolors as a cross between regular watercolor paint and gouache paint. The traditional Japanese watercolors tend to be a little more opaque than traditional watercolors.

What do you think? Have you tried Japanese watercolors? I love that the pans are larger and easier to get a larger brush into. I like to spread out and use these at home in my studio/office.

I am really happy with how these new colors compliment my collection.
