Ernst Krenek (1900 - 1991) a giant brain among composers. He composed in many styles but was primarily a contrapuntalist. He had a giant success early in his career with a jazz opera, which sadly sounds dated to our ears. In several of his scores he notes the date and place of completion; and it can be disarming to note that a modern Euro-centric composition was written say, in Palm Springs.
Are these 20 little pieces actual miniatures, or a set of variations on a theme (#2) with an intro? Written in a strict 12 tone idiom which sounds virtually tonal.
Created, edited and mastered in Digital Performer (MOTU) using Synthogy sound banks. Fixed a boo boo in #5, sorry!
