No, the colour scheme chosen isnt some carefully coded message. Its a common pattern, and with white commonly being perceived as difficult to paint, it seemed a good choice to tackle something this large with a relatively simple method thats easy to replicate at home.
The best thing about the early medieval period is that during the early 13th Century, rules around heraldry werent yet codified, and there was a lot of leeway in what anything would mean or relate to. Simple geometric shapes and patterns are easy to paint, and whether as a uniform for a questing band of knights or with each of them painted in a different manner, it doesnt take much to swap colours around and get a wonderfully diverse range of heroes on the table.

Ive always wanted to title a video in a similar way to a 19th Century recipe book, the ones that contain things like Another Treatment for Beef Gravy and such. It just tickles me the right way.
Orks can be incredibly busy miniatures with loads of little bits of detail that youd almost want to paint in a dozen different colours, but by sticking to a limited palette and concentrating on the colours thatll stand out the most to the eye - usually the skin and the Clan colours - youll save time by being able to skip most of those little bits and pieces!

MARPAT camouflage is unique to the United States Marine Corps - hence the name, after Marine Pattern. Though technically a four-colour pattern, at this scale the tiny flecks of off-white in the swatch would be practically invisible, so not worth the extra work! The best part of painting Marines is that their personal equipment is all one colour; far faster and simpler than WWII Germans or Napoleonic British with all those fancy bits and bobs... 😅
This is also one of those rare instances where Im painting a uniform where theres a pretty good chance where some of my viewers might have worn it professionally! If thats the case, let me know in the comments how close I got it!

Where to start painting miniatures can be daunting. Ask a dozen people where to begin and what to buy, and youll get a dozen different answers at least. Heres my two cents on the matter: without breaking the bank buying dozens upon dozens of paints to dip your toes into a new hobby, and some ways of getting the most from a starter set of paints.
If you were more patient than Ive been in painting Grond here, you could very likely get an even smoother, more refined result! The purpose in this video is to hopefully demonstrate that with just a little mixing and some fairly cheap additions to a starter set, you can be painting nifty-looking heroes - or villains! - for your games in no time, whether youre playing D&D, Pathfinder, or anything of the sort.
