The event held in mid-February 2026 pitted teams of 3 each in City Trial. With only 6 participants per match, it felt like I could actually do stuff I wanted to do without someone else coming by and yoinking it every time. Only some of the time. Granted, I am not too savvy on how City Trial works or how to best play in it, and there were undoubtedly lots of people here who were. But since this is a team match, where teammates cannot harm each other, I can only hope not to drag my own team down too much. With only 3 players per team instead of 8 like a previous event, my performance would count a lot more towards the Stadiums at the end.
Since this was held mid-February, we had license decorations and Street Names themed around Valentine’s Day.

City Trial
Character: Scarfy (Blue Team)
Stadium: Rail Panic
I have a hard time with the Formula Star, but the game seemed pretty insistent that I use it..or maybe it’s because I’m bad with the Formula Star that I can’t seem to steer correctly into other, easier-to-use machines with it. So bad I am with it that I just showed up right as the strange pillar was destroyed, though I did get 9 power-ups as they appeared. In hindsight though, as the Stadium was Rail Panic, I think the Formula Star would’ve had an edge there. Someone on the Red Team nabbed the Formula Star for this event and got 1st place overall.

Character: Noir Dedede (Red Team)
Stadium: Dustup Derby 1
I wanted to keep the Chariot, but the game decided to give me the Wheelie Bike right before the Dustup Derby—or rather, I didn’t know you just automatically change machines like that. This is also my first pickup of an All Up item. Also, how fitting is it that I’m playing as Noir Dedede and battle on the arena where you first fight him in Road Trip mode…
I also should’ve known that Bomb can damage you even if it’s yours. I can never tell based on the game though.

Character: King Dedede (Red Team)
Stadium: Gourmet Race
A secret room opened up—I found one with a bunch of cakes at full HP, but the one with a bunch of powerups that vanished before I could collect them. They were mostly Copy Abilities anyway though. The Stadium here was also fitting, putting King Dedede in his classic minigame. This is also the first time I ended it on a double digit score, not getting attacked left and right the whole way through.

Character: Waddle Doo (Red Team)
Stadium: Target Flight 3
I turned down the Slick Star because I don’t know how to use it that well, as well as the Turbo Star for the same reasons, ending with the Chariot…and we get Target Flight 3, something not meant for the chariot type machines. I did accidentally hit the 30-point panel though, placing me ahead of some of the other players using the Star type machines, which glide well.

Stadium: Kirby Melee 1
I don’t think I’ve heard this music come up before in City Trial. Apparently, it’s the alternate theme for Sky Sands. Looking it up, this is the theme for The Arena from Kirby Super Star. A Treasure Star is worth 10 powerups though? That’s pretty nice—and I finally was able to reach one. I was also curious about reaching that surface of the moon area via the volcano, which is why I wound up there.
