These are the matches leading up to the Beartic Team’s move into the Master Ball Tier. You know, over Scarlet and Violet, I was planning on doing some sort of strategy involving Chilly Reception into Slush Rush, but the recipient Pokémon would’ve been Cetitan, not Beartic. Icicle Crash and Earthquake would still be there and not the others, and Cetitan’s stats mean it would be far faster under Slush Rush than Beartic (able to outrun Garchomp with a Choice Scarf in the snow) and with similar durability, but with lower Attack.
I still intend to use Cetitan at some point—I do like Beartic, and as of this team, I will have used all of the fully-evolved, non-Legendary Ice-types from Generation V in PvP (Cryogonal in Sword and Shield, and Vanilluxe in Black and White).

Opponent’s Pokémon: Vivillon, Umbreon, Sableye
This was a long, drawn-out battle, as Umbreon and Sableye are both very defensively oriented (in different ways). Umbreon has naturally high defenses and healing, while Vivillon and Sableye are built ot prevent you from attacking altogether (Vivillon with Sleep Powder, Sableye with Protect, Disable, and Encore). As it no doubt has a Focus Sash, Fletcher (Decidueye), being a Grass-type, would be the only Pokémon in this linup that can pull one over on it, though I still have to watch out for Hurricane attacks. My opponent also made heavy use of Protect and played defensively, using a lot of switch-outs.
I was able to pull through with this one due to two factors of Fletcher (Decidueye) that my opponent may not have realized or forgotten about: that as a Grass-type, he is not affected by powder moves, namely Sleep Powder; and as a Pokémon with Scrappy, he can hit Sableye for super-effective damage.

Opponent’s Pokémon: Grimmsnarl, Incineroar, Scrafty
My opponent’s team was based around the move Parting Shot, or at least their selected Pokémon: all three of the Pokémon on their team had it (well, I suspect Scrafty did), and they spammed the move again and again to reduce attack ower and switch out to something that can withstand attacks. Though there is the more general weakness of reducing stats but not doing damage (but maybe the plan was to start attacking once sufficiently weakened) or Taunt putting a stop to it, there is also this strategy here, one that does not involve the Attack or Sp. Attack stats. The Parting Shot attacks allowed me to use Iron Defense a few times, then Body Press to deal a lot of damage at once no matter how low Castilla’s (Bastiodon’s) Attack had dropped.

A bit amusing that both Gholdengo and Staraptor fainted through self-inflicted damage. I technically didn’t knock out either of them—they knocked out themselves. (Life Orb with Gholdengo, Brave Bird with Staraptor.)

In any case, I guessed incorrectly with Castilla (Bastiodon), having predicted a Stone Axe attack followed by Close Combat, but they went straight to Brick Break. I also predicted wrong switching into Laverne (Dragalge), expecting another Brick Break attack.
I was able to turn the momentum back around later on though, in part thanks to Scrappy.

This was the match that put the Beartic Team to Master Ball Tier for the first time, and using the most common order of Pokémon for this team, the duo of Socrates (Slowking) using Chilly Reception to set snow and switch into Juno (Beartic), with Leonardo (Pyroar) covering anything that Juno (Beartic) cannot.
It was a harrowing one too, with the awkward matchup of Socrates (Slowking) alone versus Mega Delphox.
