Trying out 3 kick drum mics, one diy sub kick and 5 tom mics.
Testing 3 kick drum mics and a home made sub kick on a 22" Tama Superstar kick drum with a Remo Powerstroke 3 batter and a Tama resonant head. Tuned to around a 39 Hz fundamental note (tested with a tune-bot).
The AKG kick mic costs about 3/4 more than the EV and the Shure PG about 30%.
Also testing 5 tom mics on a 12" Tama Superstar Hyperdrive tom with a Remo Emperor batter and an Evans G1 resonant head. Tuned to around a 2A note (110 Hz, tested with a tune-bot).
The Shure PG and EV PL tom mics cost about 3 times the price of the cheap T-Bone and the SM57 and Opus 87 4-5 times.
Be sure to switch to HD mode for best sound and video quality. And you'll need a subwoofer or good headphones to hear all the frequencies of he sub kick recordings.
