I was just minutes away from going out to purchase the Harbor Freight motorcycle lift as they had published their yearly coupon for 100$ off, when I saw in my recommended searches this lift which has the added feature of being able to fold away when not in use. If you are like me and have limited space, this is quite intriguing, so I investigated further.

The only complaints I saw about this lift were addressed in what they call the 2019 series, the one now currently in production and the one I've purchased. This one that I have is the largest of this model of lifts. At roughly 3 times the cost of the Harbor Freight lift, I'll point out that the freight delivery from California was included in the cost.

The lift arrived through roadrunner freight on schedule without issue on a pallet in a small crate. I demonstrate the unpacking off of the crate and the assembly as per the instructions, noting one small area of the instructions that was out of date with the current model pertaining to the guide rails.

As it sits on the floor it takes little more space than a bike itself, its not a large stand as expected. initially tests are done without a bike. I find a nice place for setting up my test, then giving the unit an initial cleaning. Initially jacking up the lift I noticed that as the design brings the stand forward, not to have the lift initially situated too close to the wall when loading the bike, a good foot would be helpful. Also the safety bar isn't spring loaded to lock into all of the gates, gravity locks it into the first two. There is also no top lock when lowering the jack.

Testing the next round with the pneumatic pump, I had to change it to match my garage's fittings. It worked very nicely. Ill point out when closing the valve not to use excessive force, or its very hard to open as it binds. I was confident at this point to put my bike on. already having ratchet straps on the bars I roll it up onto the wheel locks. If you have narrow tires like I do, the lock is not adjustable so don't expect it to hold your bike up until the straps are tightened.

It takes about 100 manual pumps to lift a bike. Evaluating the working area we see a good height as well as rear support eyelets. Also the rear section of the lift could be removed if there was a jack on the frame to do rear work. Lowering the bike worked fine, as well as removal.

With the lift empty, the ramp is pulled and I start the storage procedure. The rear section is folded and secured, all of the parts stowed. The lift is pulled vertical and rolled to the wall for some comparisons with other garage items. Taking up less space than my vacuum cleaner.

I still opted to install some nylon security straps into the wall just in case of a mishap, with 350lbs toggle bolts. All together, this lift is a winner in my book. It will be in many continuing motorcycle videos to come.
